Inexpensive SBC heads.
I know I am beating this to death and am finally coming to the conclusion to not use my +reworked" old -601's , stock -291, or stock -461's with only 160 cc or so ports..
What aluminum or cast-iron heads are there out there that ---
1. are 49 or 50 cc chambered;
2. use stock length 2.02"/1.60" valves; and
3. fit stock valve notch pistons..
180 to maybe 200 cc intake ports if 200 isn't too big for my next junk301?
I know about Dart and Enginequest cast-iron heads but what other aluminum heads are there? Promaxx, Procomp, others.
Now I am talking about inexpensive heads here NOT GOOD ones that are well worth it but cost way more.

Re: Inexpensive SBC heads.
The Assault Racing 200cc port aluminum "Import" heads look not bad at all. probabily great with a bit of hand porting cleanup.
Buy them bare. Get a 302 piston with a dome on it.
if you think that the 200cc port volume is too big you could try a insertable "tongue" port insert on the intake port floor to take up volume and speed up port velocity. "speed secret"
you will find most of the aftermarket heads want a +.100" length valve. This makes for a longer length valve guide which supports the valve better than a short/shortended guide. more durable.
What you are really beating a dead horse over is the flat top 302 piston.
Get a 302 piston with the right dome volume to get the right cr with the stock chamber volume. (measure it don't assume its 64cc)
The only real problem with those old heads is the lack of end bolt holes and hardened exhaust seats for unleaded gas.
All of them will flow plenty with porting for your hot street 302.

Re: Inexpensive SBC heads.
Going to be hard to find that small of a combustion chamber in a new style aluminum SBC head imho.
Like already mentioned by Fbird, getting a stock length valve to work will be a challenge as well.
Chad has an awesome cnc program for an import head. Give him a call. http://www.speierracingheads.com/
I have ran his import cnc heads on a 383 with great results.
By the way, what is your budget?

Pro-Filer has some 64cc versions which can be milled .080" or the small chamber "porters" version which has almost nothing done; with the guides and seats in a bag.

Where would they show their heads I not able to locate any cylinder heads
on their web site?, just curious what they offered.
Re: Inexpensive SBC heads.
TFS 175cc comes in a 56cc chamber for about 450 bare each. Not sure on the lengths though. Only about a grand assembled for a pair.

They show out of stock on the web site.
Show a few on Ebay KMJ performance.
Popular item.

Well, you could look for a set of buick sbc heads: they seem to have small chambers and smallish ports. Not sure if they are cheap to find though...
Re: Inexpensive SBC heads.
They are close to a Dart copy. The spark plug is higher than the Dart's.
You can see below the plug where the CNC program would have been in the Dart casting.
