What was success to your father?

If you were to write a book titled, Smokey's 10 Steps to Success, what would the chapter titles be?

Last question, I've always wondered if Smokey's wife knew how great he was, or did she think, yea-yea-yea, just take out the trash?

Item 3: Book - "How to Become a Winning Crew Chief"

Larry McReynolds Larry covers a wide range of topics and tells you everything you need to know to get yourself and your team from the shop to the track, prepared and ready to race. These elements include:

Then Larry takes you to the next level in finely tuned chapters that concentrate on racecraft with tips for qualifying, developing race strategies, and diagnosing and solving a myriad of problems during a race, particularly those with handling. About Author: As a NASCAR Nextel Cup crew chief, Larry McReynolds took his teams to victory lane 23 times, earned 21 pole positions, 122 top-five finishes, and an incredible 209 top tens. Perhaps more impressive is that Larry won races with five different drivers, including the legendary Davey Allison, and proved that his approach works with any race team, no matter who is behind the wheel. Dale Earnhardt recognized this quality and recruited Larry to join Richard Childress Racing in 1997. The next season Larry helped Earnhardt achieve one of the greatest and most elusive goals of his career: winning the Daytona 500..

Software on CD

While reading "How to Become a Winning Crew Chief" it became clear that Larry truly believed in the value of taking race notes. During my interview he said he had boxes and boxes of notes from every race he'd every attended.

During the interview I asked him if he'd ever used a computer to keep track of his notes? He said no, but saw the value. I then asked him if he could design his own software to take the place of his written notes, what would it do?

After the interview I thought, I should build that software - and that's what I did.

About the software:

Easy to Use - Works like a simple filing cabinet, but with a ton more power and features.

Works with All Types of Racing - The book is about stock car racing, but this software could be used for any kind of racing.

Can handle an unlimited number records - Don't worry about adding too much info - keep track of it all.

Software Screens:

Form View:
View a single record
Enter all of your race notes
Scroll through races one by one
Print Record
List View:
View many records on a single page
Quickly jump to a specific record
Sort by Date
Sort by Track
Sort by Event
Sort even by Sanctioning Body

Find Mode:
Quickly find specific record(s)
Find specific Date(s)
Find specific Track(s)
Find specific Event(s)
Find specific Races(s) with Keywords in your race notes

Help View: Comes with on-screen help to get you up and running as fast as possible.

How to Use this Software:

  • Start keeping track of everything
  • Going to a track you've been to before? Look up your setup notes and be fast right off the trailer.
  • Load the software on your laptop & take to the track or take written notes at the track and enter the data later.
