best rod ratio

Post by alfonso »

i am new to the math involved to get max hp and tq
looking to buy new pistons and trying to figure how to order
how much compression can i use with w2 heads
what is the ideal rod length for a small block 340 mopar thats 4.125 bore
using 3.31 crank

how do we determine
pin height
ring combo
type of rods i vs h or billet or ti
which will last longest
if from now on you blame anything on anybody
it might be the alien spores from the meteors...

is a full race motor for off road comp want 14-1 comp
the bore is large and want a light piston so pin height will dictate size of slug
type of ring set
and length of rod
so wondering what to use as far as rod 6 or 6.123 or bigger
and keep hp and tq
if from now on you blame anything on anybody

Determine where you want your ring package (how far down) determine what pin size and location (pin height). Determine piston/block deck height.

Measure from the center of pin to center of crank rod journal. That will be the relevant optimized rod length. Put the energy and thought into the stuff that will really matter.

That's my experience.............blessings............Ron.

Also, try the "Search" function. This issue has been discussed at length several times. FWIW, You will find there is not enough to be gained in either horsepower or torque to spend big bucks on custom parts to vary the rod ratio. Go with what is readily available in the marketplace and save money and brain strain.

Definitely try the search function! And don't lose any sleep over rod ratios.
