caltracs set up on 10 inch slicks and 3040 lbs (tunning)

Post by seefour »

I have a 68 mustang with a 410 injected motor(alcohol) I have cut a best 60 ft at 1.3615 and run 6.09 at 113.97 mph

Ive been to three different tracks and the 60 ft's are all over the place. it seams the car will hook descent 1.40 if its at a major race/ event but not on the test and tune nights, maybe a lack of track prep. anyhow.
the average 60 ft is 1.41-1.40 if the track is preped well it will go 1.36-1.37 and carry the wheels about 60-80 ft before setting the tires down.

I have the cal tracs on the bottom hole, 5 1/2 degreees pinion angle
front shocks 90/10 rear shocks qa1 8 rebound and 4 compression
11.50 tire pressure.

I called caltracs to get a better tune up and they said to set the rebound at 2-3 and compression at 4 and 14.0 lbs tire pressure. (wouldnt even hook)

the rear end bounced all the way down the track , when it would hook terrible 1.47-1.49 60 ft ( maybe track prep)

what kinda shock settings and tire pressures are most people running on a 28 x 10.0 x 15 stiff sidewall et slick 3040 lbs w / driver

cn anyone point me in a better direction? for better all around 60 ft #'s on an average

also has anyone tried more air gap like a nickels thickness on there caltracs /monoleaf set up?

thanks
