What can I do do with old parts catalogs?

Post by modok »

Shop has been around since 60 years and in that time has collected a LOT of old catalogs.
Maybe 200 cubic feet worth
Sealed power, perfect circle, manley, clevite, FM, moog, pioneer, ect.
I'm afraid most of then are headed to the landfill

Is there anybody who scans and digitizes this old stuff?

If you catalog them and list them on this site and others, I'm sure you could get rid of them and maybe make a buck or two.

I'd be interested in any piston catalogs.

Same here, i have every Andrews, S&S print release from around 77, and from after that Crane Motorcycle, Sudco etc. There are also a stack of bearing, machine tool, measuring equipment and engine component catalogs.
I have near every National Lampoon and a stack of old early Easy Rider and like type magazines. Not to mention a comprehensive book case of engineering and engine text books. Luckily not 200cf.

Over the years i have given away bunches of the magazines when i have rarely caught a clean out virus,, i think i am genetically linked to a Bower.
My kids will probably follow what Dan suggested, the cook knows about the text collection, if it still has value good luck to her.
We live in an age when reading books is diminishing, in conversation with the kids they are more likely to go for audio books if anything than sit back and kill a couple of hours in absorption.

We are aging with our era. Good luck with the sale.

Cheers.

Same here. I dont have as much as you but i have been getting rid of some stuff too. I dont know if its worth the trouble to put them on ebay or not. Most of my stuff is 1987 and newer.

I'd be interested in any old Ford SVO catalogs anyone might have. Especially starting as far back as the early 80's.

This website has been a treasure trove of information in the form of copies of old car manuals and, in particular for me, the carb build sheets, copies of Carter and Holley and Rochester factory information ... a blessing of incredible value

A donation to this web library of old car information could be the biggest benefit for the most people in the long run.

Message from Rusty:

I would like to thank all the Old Car Guys out there that have contributed to and supported this site since 2000. This thing has grown bigger than I had imagined when we started back in the Y2K days, but there remains a vast amount of work to be done. The mission is to make old car tech info freely available so that we can keep the old machines going. Keeping our industrial heritage alive is essential to the survival of our way of life. Without history, there is no future. Accordingly, with the 20th anniversary of The Old Car Manual Project coming up next year, we're going to push hard to add new content and improve the collection. Stay tuned for some big changes!

By chance do you have any old Centerline wheel catalogs dated around 1995 to 2005? Thanks

I would like some bearing cats from the 70s.
I have PDFs of the modern stuff but they are a pain and don't contain near the info the old versions did.
