Re: Inexpensive 350 Build
Nice!
I always loved that place. When I was in High School, (Lanier) our Auto Mechanics teacher had a Super Gas Pinto and we would spend the day out there with him. Good memories from the 80s right there.
The weather is nice up here too, and Rockingham just got resurfaced and flattened out recently. The first TNT is coming up Thursday the 14th next week.
Hopefully I can hit some high 10s. The car really feels like a rocket after my 4.10 gear swap.

Hopefully the invisible man will be hovering around the starting line and you will hit a great 60ft times to meet your goal
Best of luck racing and please keep us updated.
Re: Inexpensive 350 Build
It's simple Ripper's engine is not making the hp that the dyno printed out.

Run 3.
6.87 @ 97.56 no rêv limiter, 1.45 60 foot

I almost forgot the dyno data

Re: Inexpensive 350 Build
I went back and gave a quick scan of all the pages. The only vehicle I saw was a square body pickup. That doesn't jibe with a "3165 race weight" and a "7.5 with 4.56 gears".
So much to do, so little time...

Re: Inexpensive 350 Build
Foot brake always. My used trans turned out not so great, I don't believe it has a 2.74 low gear, or any aluminum, some how my car was 15 LBS heavier than it was with my previous trans. I wasn't happy with the 1.45 60 foot.

What were you expecting?
You say foot braking. What kind of RPM can you hold at the tree?
You'd said long ago that it was gearing and converter if you want to go fast. Would you care to share your torque converter secrets?
