SBC solid flat tappet older lobes question

Post by Dragsinger »

I do no remember what this cam was ordered for or intended to run it. It has been on my "someday" shelf for about 15 or so years.
Comp Cams CS6218/6222 Max area solid. 291 - 299 seat 264- 272 at .050 This cam is new on a heavy-duty core [I do not remember what Comp call the core, it has extra metal around the lobes at the journals.]

I have an upcoming build 355 SBC with old 340292 heads, dome piston, for drag race on Methanol. I am considering testing this for at least two reason, one, I have all the required parts and hardware on hand, two, just curious about it's performance.

Do any of you have any experience with this lobe family?

I have used those lobes for a custom grind & performance was good. No dyno testing, so no figures.
It is well down on lobe lift compared to an Ultradyne/Bullet lobe
#6218. 264 @ 050, 171 @ 200, 340 lobe lift.
UD: 263 @050, 173 @ 200, 370 lobe lift.
