Merlin Iron 310 BBc heads
Anyone know anything about these? I aquired a set on a 454 in a car. Going to flip the car after a yrar or 2.
I know there sq port 310 cc intake runner, 119 cc chambers with .600 raise exhaust, but other then that, I have no idea yet.
I see they flow pretty nice @ 383 At 700. Supposed to be 2.300 intakes.
Anyone have any experience with these?

Is the valve angle 24 Degrees as stock ? Is the Intake port raised above stock BBC ports ? Are the heads stock as they were Cast ? Mark H.
Re: Merlin Iron 310 BBc heads
Stock 26 degree as OEM chevy is 26 not 24 deg. Intake port are NOT raise and Yes I think there pretty much as cast.

I can tell ya that even at .600 lift there's enough flow there to make over 700 hp.
With 454 cid and those heads minimum port area be prepared to Cam the motor to go to 7K .

Mag, there is enough flow in those heads at @.500" to make 700Hp. That's not the point. Just like to see what other have done or found when using these heads. Plan is to cam this to peak about 7400 and carry another 400 to 500. I myself only had 1 engine that was all done about 6700. I hated it. Never again, seemed once the thing started to go, it had to be shifted. That was a 575+Hp 409 stroke to 470 inches.

Re: Merlin Iron 310 BBc heads
I do not believe that Intake port will flow near that much and i have messed with a bunch of BBC heads . Mark H.
Re: Merlin Iron 310 BBc heads
I can see it flowing that much. A ported GM OEM casting will go 380. My own 074s go over 380 with 2.250 intake. FYI my GM OEM oval port 215s goes over 330 with 2.19 intake. There is more in then too.
Will get them flowed when the motor cones out.

All good i was only joking, are you the same guy on yellowbullet with a straub quote in your sig.
Re: Merlin Iron 310 BBc heads
Hence my tongue and cheek joke about Straub..........Your shop builds some impressive engines from the posts you make on yellow bullet.

Thanks, we try. But getting harder and harder every day. It's all good. Thanks for the compliment.

Update, getting a bit of info on YB.com. Seems they can work well and make good power, just heavy.

The 088 factory heads when ported and fitted with a 2.300” valve have gone 375@28” at 1.00” lift, so why could a Merlin do the same?
