Crankshaft knife edge or bull nose leading edge

Years ago they were knife edging leading edges on counterbalance.Have read that bull nose is favored now?My latest crank buy has bull nose leading edge and knife edge trailing edge?Pontiac forged crank,3in main 4.21 stroke.Tom

FWIW, back when this first became a thing, I had a friend in a NASCAR engine shop. He said, "Yes, 9,000 RPM for 500 miles, with the championship on the line, we sweat and test every possible variable. In your application, you'll never be able to see any difference."

I was aware of that just trying to find out what is the preferred way these days if ordering a new HiPo crank.Tom

The aero cranks generally have a bull nose or angled leading edge and knife trailing edge.

If I'm spending on a custom crank, see no reason not to go for it.

Thanks guys,when I bought the crank I did not pay a lot of attention and thought the knife edge was the leading edge.After actually looking at it I saw it was reverest.Some days in the hobby you get lucky!Tom
