Why not?
If this site ended with the first good answer it would be a ghost town, have 99% less content, and be all but dead.

Yeah you are right. Nobody responds to real questions but we get 30 pages of quench, or dynamic compression..etchoffman900 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 11:41 pmWhy not?

They are not mine. But for what it is worth.hoffman900 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 9:36 pmSomeone should find a dyno graph that doesn’t start at 3000rpm for a street engine

And two posts whining about it. Coming here is a choice, and not coming here is an option.mt-engines wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 12:00 amYeah you are right. Nobody responds to real questions but we get 30 pages of quench, or dynamic compression..etchoffman900 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 11:41 pmWhy not?

Re: Why 4 degrees?
And how would you test it? Who is a WOT below 3000? Even that can be low for some engines. No one is a WOT at that RPM. Most guys have enough converter to get past 3k.hoffman900 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 9:36 pmSomeone should find a dyno graph that doesn’t start at 3000rpm for a street engine
Testing that low at WOT doesn’t prove anything.

Well, I’ve never owned and auto and put me in the “I think autos are kind of dumb for a performance car”, unless you need it specifically to bracket race or have a disability. Always cracked me up seeing people talk about “computers taking over”, but they can’t shift their own gears.ClassAct wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 12:31 pmAnd how would you test it? Okay, run it at 12% throttle, at cruise, with an ICL of 99 and and ECL of 104. Last I checked a street engine didn’t live at WOT from 3000-6500rpm all the time, which these magazines would have you believe.

Re: Why 4 degrees?
I know the world is merely people drag racing V8s with a torque converter but perhaps there are plenty of people modifying engines going into street vehicles with a manual trans that can do WOT at whatever rpm you want. A chassis dyno will allow you to pull from whatever provided the engine is happyClassAct wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 12:31 pmAnd how would you test it? Who is a WOT below 3000? Re: Why 4 degrees?
Plenty of slower non traction limited road cars get punched full throttle from idle and of course traction limited ones to just for some fun.
Then of course if you have a propensity to do that you might just want to modify the car so it responds more to your liking.

Re: Why 4 degrees?
every person whoever floored the gas pedal from stopped in a vehicle with a stock torque converter ran the engine from about 2000 rpm at full throttle, bound to be 10's of millions of users, maybe over a 100 million
