Rare 2x4 crossram for small block chevy

Post by SpeedyTom28 »

Does anybody out there know of someone who might be interested in my manifold. 2 x 4 Cross-ram intake manifold for small block Chevy. This is an Offenhauser manifold with two #4224 660 cfm center squirter double pumper Holleys. This package is just as it was when taken off my 68 Z/28 and its potent 302. Real World/Race-Used.
They made for a lethal high horsepower combination.
This manifold was developed for the Trans Am
racing series during its heyday in late 60s to
catch-up to Ford’s power advantage. It was installed on my 1968 Z/28 Camaro racecar until a rule change only allowed one 4 barrel carb. This manifold and carbs combination were optimizeded with input from Smokey Yunick and Offenhauser.
I tried to post a photo but for the life of me I can't detemine how todo it!!?!? And I am pretty computer saavy.
One of the reasons it worked so well is the carbeurators. most people put on 600 or 650 cfm carbs. Smokey told me to get these hard to find ones as they worked best. And boy did they!! i guess just reply to me here. thanks for your time and space.

FWIW, Offenhauser still offers that intake base & top.

Offenhauser 5893 base

Offenhauser 5903 top

Holley 4224 660 center squirters have been discontinued for a while now but can still be found on everyone's favorite auction site.

looks like i might be priced a bit high. If I could find the guy that wants a real race proven system it might be worth more then. There are people that want stuff that was really used in racing. like to find that guy.
we had more power than the competition. we dialed the carbs in to the manifold and my engine. really enjoyed it. suspension - not so much :)

Thanks so much for the input. i appreciate the effort that went into finding these. take care. tom@tomstates.com

Maybe consider bringatrailer.com. IDK. Stuff seems to sell there for a premium. Heck if that setup was for a Porsche it would bring it's weight in gold. They go nuts over the Euro stuff there. Downside is they will make you sell it with no reserve. Still it might be worth considering. Especially if you post some notices of the auction on the various sites out there. All it would take is two guys who want it bad enough.

I'm surprised at that considering the amount of parts and memorabilia on the site daily. I visit it daily and I have only noticed an increase in those items. Perhaps contact them again? IDK. Seems like something that they would like to sell considering some of the stuff they have had on there.

Tom another place you might have some luck selling it is "The H.A.M.B.". Even though that is an early street rod forum, there would be a lot of interest in a crossram manifold.
