Late to the party but I used AeroStar shocks front and rear on my slammed Gbody about 6 years ago. The fronts were basically the same length but fatter (i used drop arms in the front) and the rear they were 2 or 3inch shorter and I think I had to change the top mount. I remember doing it at home with my 4" vise. Rode fantastic. It was an 83 v6 Malibu and for springs I used Regal Ttype springs (trimmed for the back to come down)

One thing to note: My measurements were all taken from the top of the t-bar (or, the frame mounting surface) to the c/l of the lower eyelet. Published measurements I believe are given as c/l to c/l, and thus somewhat shorter.

In other words my measured ideal 18" number would call for a shock listed as like 17.7" extended.

1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler is another option, at 19" extended. Direct fit t-bar upper, lower is 12mm like the Subarus.
