WeingartnerRacing wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 4:27 pm ...... Intake porting doesn’t pick up near as much as you would think. After doing all the intake testing I have done it really only gains a lot(more than 30) on high horsepower engines, over 900hp. This excludes really crappy manifolds. Port alignment makes more of a power difference than porting a manifold. Porting certainly helps but it’s not like porting heads....
Has this changed how you approach the porting manifolds, especially the time put into customers manifolds?
No. From my testing the 60grit made more power than burr finish back to back. It’s small though. No matter what I say about a how manifold looks people still want eye candy. So it’s 60grit and burr. The biggest thing now is I can say this is what it will pick up and I’m saying this not because I read it somewhere or someone told me. It comes from what I actually tested.

Good to hear. Looking forward to the dyno results. I've done a few of those Trick Flow R-series. They are nice castings. I'm always surprised how light they are when I pick one up. I'm guessing that's for the 14.3:1 422 with Brodix Track 1 236cc heads ported by Ron's Porting Service. Ron is retired now, but is familiar with my work. I've got another intake here from one of his old accounts.

Not sure, he was pretty tight lipped on details of the combo.

Recently completed this Hurricane. The quality, out of the box, is reflected in it's price. A lot of time and effort to make this a nice piece...

looks like giant csa in plenum compared to pinched up area out at flange. I saw the heads those intakes go on. Pretty disappointing imo. Not much csa in head or hp potential

That was a complete mess. With what little you had to work with, you did what you could within the limits of the manifold. Hats off to you. Do you think it'll make the gain that he was looking for, to over 800 horsepower with AFR 245s?
