Do they have the death penalty in Brazil ?

I'm not sure if encouraging everyone to own guns will help the crime rate. Maybe, i guess time will tell.

I always thought that a day and a night in the "stocks" in front of the post office would be a good punishment for petty crimes. Then Lashings for more serious crimes, then the death penalty after that.

Lack of justice and corruption in Government seems to be the cause and effect of crime. Or more likely when a nation forgets God.

There has a been a surge in crime in my neighbourhood recently. The criminals are very bold. I think that shows that they are not afraid of the punishments.

We had unintended consequences when Clinton cracked down and more now that the pendulum has swung back to where it currently is.

I think "Stop and Frisk" makes all the sense in the world but the left sees racism in a box of pop tarts so that'll never happen again. I don't have the answer.

The death penalty is not a deterrent.

The alternative to the death penalty is usually life in prison without parole, which is what I would advocate for in the case of "capital" crimes. Life in prison is actually cheaper. Often I hear the ignorant argument that we should just take the guilty out back and shoot them right after the trial. The problem with that is, we are often wrong. The system of appeals we have is there to err on the side of caution, in order to prevent the execution of those found guilty who are actually innocent.

Jair Bolsonaro topped the poll in the first round of Brazil's presidential elections, having seduced tens of millions of voters with simple -- though radical

Always enjoyed visiting and leaving Brazil, guess those days are coming to an end.

Also notice , simple and radical are seldom used with the word intelligent.

My friend Ray Crone comes to mind.
