Him and I are no longer on good terms and I'm trying to let it blow over, or rather, be in the past. I probably shouldnt of said anything, LOL I dont know what straps and dont think the truck was making over 500 at the tires, but it happened. Truck was stuffed into wall. No, it wasnt my truck.
Just a sponge, soaking up info.

Yes, it happenend 2 weeks ago to a guy in our car club. On the 2nd pull they wanted to make a 1/4 mile pull. The owner of the dyno said to launch it like you do at the track, so they launched it on the tranny brake.
They are thinking that the straps stretched so much that the car may have moved foward enough to allow the tires to reach the floor. Heres is a link to the video

Exploded a (very old) BFG street tire at the end of a pull, about 130 mph. Actually it just lost a portion of the tread, but that ripped the rear quarter off the car and sent shrapnel all through the room. There was a real run on underwear that day.
Now pay real close attention to the tire speed rating.

I had my Superflow 800 dyno on order for a year and was already set up to run it when it arrived. it was SF800 Dyno #6. the first engine we ran was a 460 big block Chevrolet with a 150 shot.on the third pass at 7250 making a little over 800 H.P.the impeller in the water brake exploded turning the engine loose.the impeller in the absorber was aluminum, Superflow replaced it with a bronze one and I replaces a set of ex valves.Bill

I was at the car craft summer nationals in '05 when Carl Finneys '32 ford with a 598 on a supposed 500 horse shot broke the straps with about 200 people close nearby. The dyno software only recognized 1200 hp and he peaked that before it broke. here is the link below.

I was running my unblown fuel engine on straight alky just to set the timing and check for leaks. I did not bother to lean the barrel valve down for the alky cause I got lazy. When we went to refire about an hour latter on 100%, I had my partner spin the engine over and then hit the mag while I was in the cell with the primer bottle. Well I guess we had filled the ex. system and a pair of those locomotive mufflers up pretty good cause when he hit the mag switch it blew one of the mufflers apart and the back wall clean out of the cell including the wall into the shop next door. All I saw was lots of blue flames and a vary loud bang. I hit the deck and excaped any injury exept ringing ears and a walletectimy.
In my new cell up hear in Chico, I don`t use mufflers anymore and when I warm up the fuel engine on alky I allways set the barrel valve accordingly.
The same engine stuck the throttle once @ 7000 rpm and nobody wanted the go in and shut the fuel off (bad idea). We stood there like does in the headlights for about five seconds ( seemed like five minuts ) untill one of my new guys just walked in and pulled the throttle back by hand.

On the chassis dyno at the shop. We put our pulling trucks on there with 1000-1300hp motors and couple of yrs ago the rear diffy yoke broke and sent a steel driveshaft loop ring out flying. One the guys was at a desk, it missed his head by inches, bounced off the wall, and dissapeared for about 1 1/2 yrs. Boss found it 200yrds away at the edge of the nieboers corn field.
We also had the ocasional motor explosion.
On mine , I had it on the dyno about 1 month ago, 2nd run off the morning it broke the output yoke on the pro-fab t-case wrecked and and a mess of things at 110mph. That was 1480 u-joint also...
