Recently someone was talking about a multiple rotary engine for power.
Found this - the sound you can hear dominating this video is the Mazda that won LeMans. Sounds a lot better than the twin rotor engines!
Thought some here might enjoy hearing it

Wow thats CRAAAAAZY It idles like a fuel car and revs like a 2 stroke dirtbike. The sound when he revs it is very much like a nitro RC car... on crack.
Were they fast/powerful?
Hey Barry. . . How about a Diesel ala audi R10  |

Very cool.
It does have a major lope at idle, I thought it sounded like it was on a two step when he raised the RPM just off-idle -- almost sounded like it was missing, but when free-reving response was immediate and it was "all there" . . . cool.

After being pitted beside one at the track for a few hours, it doesn't sound nearly so cool! Not only that, the drivers must all carry Harley rider DNA; they're constantly blipping the gas. Last big race at Mosport we loaded everything back into the trailer first chance we got and moved as far away as we could from a wild-motored RX7 ... _________________ "It is not necessary to build a swimming pool to determine that a bowling ball won't float." .....Zora Arkus-Duntov |

cc = 4 x 654
700hp at a low 8000rpm (low for a rotory) - naturally aspirated
The sound under load is a lot less tiny and annoying - I also have a wav file of it racing under load and it sounds even better isolated without the single seater near it - but can't upload it here.
RogueGTS - ANY ICE can be turned into a diesel thanks to Professor Poring (ex Naval Academy) of Sonex Research. He took me thru his lab in Annapolis - very interesting! Via a unique piston design - even a low compression (even well under 8:1) will fire without spark. He replaces the sparkplugs with a direct injector aimed strategically. The engine will run on gas, diesel, JP5 etc. Obvious military application = lightweight JP5 engines.
For road use - heaps of applications as they will rpm like no diesel can!!! They've seen 8000rpm from a Subaru boxer and were looking for 400hp from the turbocharged 4. Not bad with no spark. They need a lot more air however than a conventional engine.
I haven't forgotten them
that's for some future play money |

after racing against that 787 car and other RX7's.. I'm convinced that the amount of HP produced is exponentially related to the amount of time working/porting/rebuilding that engine goes through.. very few rotarys can make 24 hours endurance racing and competitive power. _________________ Red Lion Racing
