Finished Recording

I just got off the phone with Big Daddy. He's so busy he had to talk via a cell phone while driving down the road. What a great american and a great story teller. My favorite part of the interview: lessons from his childhood that shaped who he is today.

It was a real joy. I can't wait to go to the museum http://www.garlits.com

I have been to Garlits museum and it is well worth the trip. Lots of hot rod and drag racing history in one place! It is a must see for any gear head!
So get yourself a beer, open up your mind, hang on to your "keisters" and get ready to go on a modern day, real life adventure. - Big Daddy Don Garlits

Questions for Big Daddy

Postby speedtalk » Wed May 14, 2003 8:37 pm

Don,

Here's some questions we've received for you.

1.) If you only had one tip to give to a new racer, what would it be?
2.) What lesson do you think you learned in racing that was also useful
to everyday life?
3.) How did you get pumped up or motivated for each race?
4.) How did you deal with the inevitable failures, losses, breaks, that
are bound to happen in auto racing?
5.) How did you deal with the stress of a racing lifestyle?
6.) What things about your personality contributed to your success?
7.) When you were driving, how did you maintain your focus?
8.) Did you set certain goals for your racing career?
9.) What do you see as the largest changes in auto racing over the
years? Are these changes positive or negative?
10.) Do you have any tips for getting and keeping sponsors?
11.) In a nutshell, why do you love the sport so much?

Thanks,
