So what would you do?

Post by David Redszus »

While you were sleeping off a good night of partying, your buddies got on the internet and managed a fantastic political campaign that resulted in you being elected as President.

Now that you are President (and even control both House and Senate) what would you do?

About jobs, economy, dollar devaluation, immigration, foreign affairs, energy, enviornment, trade deficits, national debt, wars, education, social security, gay marriage, animal health care? You could even set your own agenda in order of importance.

Much criticism has been fired by both sides at both sides. But does anyone really have a realistic plan of action? Assuming that your plans could get through Congress without total revision, just what would you want to be done?

Return the size of government to 1950 level.
1 Page tax filing
Increase military spending to the point that no one would ever consider contesting us in any way.

To continue what was already said, I'd bring an end to all of the entitlement programs. Even Social Security and Medi-Care/Medic-Aid. Those three I'd end on a graduated scale, the younger you are, the less likely you are to draw. Younger than 50? You'll never draw. Those over 55 now have had so much collected from them over the years they get to draw. But I'd be getting the government completely out of the entitlement business. There's nothing in the Constitution that allows the government to operate any charity.

The savings go to the military, and infrastructure. Roads, bridges, power plants, power grids, dams, that's where the money goes. The military pay scale triples. Oh, and the military is the only government employee group that gets a paid pension and/or health care. No other group, especially not politicians.

Speaking of politicians, any law they pass applies fully to them. And their pay is tied to the economy. They screw up the economy, they take a pay cut.

A flat tax, 15%, $10K per person, $20K for a married couple (man and woman), $5K per child, and one home mortgage deduction. No corporate taxes, they're just passed on to the consumer anyway. No inheritance tax, that money and property has already been taxed, probably several times over.

Back on the gold standard. No printing/minting money without something real to back it up.

Secure the border, and immediate deportation for all illegal aliens, including anchor babies. Anyone caught employing illegal aliens gets 10 years and $100K fine. Same for those renting or selling property to them.

Speaking of prison time. No TV, no radio, no weight benches, no magazines in any jail or prison. Minimum of 12 hours of work per day, every day, they pay their own way, prison is not a vacation, it's a punishment, they're not living on the tax payer's nickle to repay society for their crimes. You learn a trade and earn your keep, that's how it is on the outside, that's how it is on the inside. Or you never get out. You don't work, you don't eat. We don't care.

Foreign trade policy? We match any tariff you have on our goods with tariffs on all of yours. If we can't sell our goods in your country, you can't sell yours here.

Foreign policy? You mess with the bull, you get the horns. You allow/support terrorists/pirates in your country who attack our country, we're coming to deal with them, you can get out of the way or get nailed. We don't want to bother you, so don't bother us, or our interests. We'll put that military spending to use. No, we're not giving up any nukes, or delivery systems. We treat you the way you treat us.

Back to the moon, and beyond. The space exploration race is better at inspiring technological advances than war, and we prefer peace anyway.

We're drilling, if it's within our territory, we're drilling for it. New nuke plants. And clean coal, too.

The EPA and the Department of Education are history. The BATFE shrinks by 95%. So does the Department of Energy. And the Department of Agriculture, with their subsidies.

It's such a loaded question and I would never want the job but...
just a few ideas off the top of my head.

From now on, private insurance will be billed as the primary insurance. Those with existing Medicare coverage will not exceed $250K in costs over a lifetime. Patients will pay a minimum 10% of what Medicare is billed, 20% for Medicaid.

Politicians are not entitled to pensions after six years of service, 20 years will become the new minimum. Politicians who can't pass a state budget on time will not be paid after the deadline...they will be fined!

Reduce school administrative costs by at least 90%. No classrooms sizes below 30 students.

No one foreign born can own property, a private business, or run for public office until they have applied, been granted, and maintained citizenship for 25 years. Those born here without both parents having legal citizenship will not be granted citizenship automatically. Non citizen expectant mothers will not be allowed to enter the US in their 3rd trimester.

Attorney legal fees and costs combined cannot exceed 10% of what a client is awarded.

Sales tax will be a 5% maximum. No federal or state taxes on fuel. No more gas guzzler tax. No luxury tax. No toll fees will be used for subsidies. Property taxes for a primary residence may not exceed 5% of personal income.

Those currently receiving ANY income assistance will work 30 hours minimum per week at whatever tasks deemed appropriate for their skill level. Farm labor, custodial chores, road construction, child care, jury duty, etc.

Parole board members will be held accountable for crimes committed by parolees. All minors above the age of 12 accused of a violent crime will be charged as adults. Prisoners awarded the death penalty will be terminated within 30 days after sentencing.

Normal mail delivery and collection in all residential areas will be reduced to 2X per week.

Eliminate the California Air Resource Board.

No adults will receive Social Security benefits unless they have paid into it. Most everything Alan said are really good ideas except I'm under 50 and have been paying into Social Security for thirty years. At minimum I think I'm entitled to a refund.

What have I left out?

LOL. Thanks. It should be the Tea Party platform, along with Jon's post. It is my hope that the Tea Party can retake the Republican party as the party of true conservatives.

=D> X 2!! Even the ads for Administaff on the radio stations here in Texas reflect the frustration of small business owners and the outrage of the general populace with the unconstitutional, radical socialist agenda being pushed on Americans against our will (same soundbytes as animated advertisements linked below)......

http://www.administaff.com/take_back_control/#/movie2

Counting the days! Actually, we are trying to find out where early voting will take place since the fire in August 'of unknown origins' at the Harris County Clerk's Election Technology Center......

http://www.39online.com/news/local/kiah ... 6385.story

...... The warehouse where the entire county's electronic voting machines, manual voting gear, election judges equipment and records were stored. All 10,000 electronic voting machines were destroyed...... Within 48 hours of evidence of voter fraud by one of the 'usual suspect organizations' affiliated with ACORN having been discovered and a public announcement made that an investigation into the matter would be conducted......

http://www.thecypresstimes.com/article/ ... ABLE/32768

http://www.thecypresstimes.com/article/ ... NTER/32765

And this is what the left-biased 'Houston Chronicle' (sadly, the only daily newspaper in our nation's 4th largest city, located in our nation's 3rd most populated county) had to say......

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/met ... 70826.html

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/met ... 73960.html

All the more reason to find when and where we can participate in early voting here this year. Just hope the replacement machines aren't supplied by the Hugo Chavez controlled Smartmatic/Sequoia company which supplied around 25% of electronic voting machines in '06 and '08 nationwide. And yes, some of these were discovered to be pre-programmed in favour of candidates on the left. No big surprise there. These are the same rigged voting machines that put Chavez in power in Venezuela...... And keep him there to this day.

Best regards to all,

No more of this NOT reading proposed law like has recently been done.

Answering seriously: I would need to study a lot and consult with many people before developing policies.

1st I'd open up all the land, to homesteading, then the pee ons aren't slaves. There would be no building codes and true freedom would be abundant. The only stipulation would be you can never sell the land or materials from it for profit.
2nd the environmental nut case control of everything would be abolished.
3rd, all voters would get exactly what they vote for, that is if they want higher taxes they would get it. And the ones that didn't vote for it wouldn't get it.
4th I would start using all these new Patriot act laws to eliminate the real terrorists, such as freaky people that toss rocks at cars from overpasses and all the gang stuff, rapists, people that prey on children etc.
5th there would be an american autobahn, with a minimun speed limit of 70.
6th there would be 3 day rotating work weeks to open up jobs and to have time to enjoy life.
7th roll back the costs of everything back to the late 1960's.
8th the constitution would be reinstated.
I'm sure theres more that needs fixing.
