Best Sounding Engine

Post by SchmidtMotorWorks »

What is your favorite engine to hear?

My favorites were both motorcycles CBX and RG500.

V12s sound nice.

Ducatti

I'll even admit to liking the sound of the one in a million Harley that has the right combination of cam and exhaust.

I really like the sound of my old school tunnel rammed 528 Hemi. The engines that I really hate to have to listen to are some of the little 4 bangers with the fart pipes. Another that drives me nuts are some of the smallblock chevies. Some combinations of them remind me of a gettomobile with a bad muffler. I'm not trying to bad mouth Chevy, but some of the chevy bracket cars I've heard at the track make me want to buy them a set of quite mufflers. Dave

I don't like noise, lol. Be awesome--IMO--to have a 500 hp motor that you could not hear!

I love the sounds from those big IHRA pro stockers. They have a deep, effortless sound. They sound happy to be there.

I'd have to say my first engine (Olds 350). I also like the sounds and smell of those old hit and miss engines, there's something soothing about them.

And I know I'll get bashed for this, but I like the sound of those small 4 cylinder engines when they are properly tuned (ie not weed eater sounding). Most of them are horrible but every now and then you can find a nicely done one.

On bikes- I heard a road star warrior one time a few years ago with black exhaust pipes (no clue on the brand) and some tuning. It was the nicest sounding v twin I have ever heard. The thumping coming out of the pipes felt like it was just beating on your chest- if I didn't give up bikes i would have one of those in my garage right now.
LOL, according to the post count I'm an "expert." The only thing I'm an expert at is asking questions.
