reading some of the carburetor threads and came up with this idea.
somebody with a dyno and a mule engine could sponsor a carburetor shootout. go to the various carb builders and give them the engine specs and have them build a carb. charge an entry fee to cover the dyno time and getting the magazines involved would probably generate revenue somewhere.
maybe put an end to some of the speculation. of course it is a limited dyno application, but that is one way to measure performance.

No mag would ever be a part of it, for the same reason they won't do a cam shoot-out.
It does them no good, when their biggest advertisers finish well below comanies that don't advertise with them, or advertise very little.
You'd also never get the bigger companies to put their product up against the smaller companies, they have nothing to gain, and everything to lose.

Re: ecc engine carburetor challenge
but it would be fun to see the top dogs duke it out....... as the beat goes on....
Re: ecc engine carburetor challenge
i was thinking about that also, i don't think the really top dogs are out there beating the bushes looking for business.

I'd still like to see a reasonable and logical carb vs efi contest. (Which would also include carb vs carb data.)

Thats a tough one too, Mike. EMC is about the closest thing to watch and as evidnet last year the EFI stuff has a long way to go in that application. They have changed the rules favoring the EFI pretty heavily to help the EFI guys out this year.
Granted the EMC doesn't show which is the over all best, but it sill one dimension for compairison.
