Dart vs Brodix vs AFR cylinder heads

Postby movealong » Sun Nov 16, 2008 8:05 pm

We have a new 377 for our 2200 lb Vega, need an off the shelf cylinder head, running comp cams roller 260/268 .660 cam that he already has.

Wants either Dart Pro 1 plat 215 or Brodix Jesse James 210 cnc ported or afr competio eliminator 210 cylinder heads. All are about the same price so which one? We want the one to get us down the track fastest. any experience with these heads? thank you

The AFR should be a good 20-30 better than the other two.

T4P Dart 200's will make the others look like double humps. Best conventional small port head off the shelf that I have had on my bench.

Contact sstrokerace for dealer list.

Isn't that an LS head?

Yeah it's a pretty killer piece... there are both LS and 23° heads. They are heads Joe developed before he passed and they are very nice. His goal was to make the best possible standard port 23°

Not cheap due to some tricks with the valves (94g Stainless non-hollow valves)... but for a under 400cube SBC or LT they are hard to beat. One set is running 125mph at DA's of 6000 ft! in a 3400lbs F-body! Not bad considering it's a T56, PUMP FUEL and has a stock ECU which limits the RPM to 7000. His cam is around the same size as yours as well. You would want to run a nicely ported single plane to go along with them!!!!

Should be able to move a 2200lbs Vega into the low 150's easy.

No clue what kind of wind they move on Dennis' bench. I know they are VERY touchy to a point in terms of VJ and valve and with a 50° seat they moved over 330cfm up here on a calibrated 1020. I think we figured out AFD's bench calibrated to his normal orifice is a percent or so lower.

I would like to hear more about these T4P heads.. found the Bauer racing website, but it has nothing on it about these heads... actually the whole site is nearly empty aside for some info about throttle bodies. The LS guys were saying that Bret Bauer buys the heads from Dart, sends them out to their porter of choice and then sells them on the boards.

They are Dart castings but Dart does not sell, them. We are a Dart dealer.

Cost is more than anything else on your list here... it varies with the application and spring setup. Unless you want to spend money you probably don't want them, they are NOT cheap.

If you need more info shoot me a e-mail.
