Bronze bushing lifters don't last any longer than needle bearing lifters. Their advantage, is that they normally just start to wear, and the lash opens up, and you will hear it. Needle bearing lifters sound fine, right up until they break, and little your engine with hardened steel needles.

If you want the closest thing to bullet proof, you can go with our EVO-16 "Steel on Steel" option. That's what we run in all the Drag and Drive event stuff we do.

Wow, steel on steel, that's ballsy.

Do the bushed lifters maintain an oil film ?

I spoke with Jesel about this when I ordered mine. The response I got was that they built a bushed lifter because customers were asking for them, not because they thought that they were any better than a needle lifter. I run my Jesels with about 375seat and 1,100 open.

This is what I run. The DLC steel bushing solid roller from BAM. Mine will see Street time, so I wanted durability over every last horsepower. Last engine had needle solid rollers that did fine. If I was class racing, I would go with a needle bearings for every little last bit of horsepower.

If the roller pivot can maintain an oil film u dr load there shouldn't be much in it ? If it can't maintain an oil film the wheel skidding on the lobe will become a big issue.

If you end up with needles in your engine, isn't that a lifter body failure ? Possibly bought on by a link failure ?

So a link failure killing a lifter without needles means the pump doesn’t lock up from a needle being wedged in it ?

I've seen a pump in a wet sump Auscar engine destroyed by a needle.....but the engines components had no missing needles. Only needles indeed were in the rocker arms.

We have 4 pressurized oil ports to the axle.

A bush works like a rod brg, needs a pressure wedge & constant oil supply.

Needle brgs need very little oil, marketing hype as far as needle roller lifters go.
Examples of minimum lubed roller brgs: wheel brgs, uni joints, alt brg
