HDPE coil spring seats/spacers

Is HDPE okay for this? Parts will be 4" OD and between 1/2" and 1" thick. I haven't worked with HDPE before, used plenty of delrin/acetal but I think that's probably on the brittle side for spring seats. (plus, HDPE is cheaper)

Um. I meant UHMW, not HDPE. Don't know why I keep mixing those up.

Well, they are both polyethylene. LDPE, HDPE, UHMW in order of increasing "density" or molecular weight.

I too am interested in whether UHMW is suitable for spring seats. I think it will swell with moisture absorption and also suspect that it may creep under consistent pressure. Maybe that's ok, I don't know.

Well, Wiki says it "has extremely low moisture absorption". I may have to pick up some smaller stock to play with first, 4" is kinda expensive to use as an experiment.

I have used Delrin as spring seats before, kind of, but that was more as a slippery washer (between the springs and coilover lower adjusters), and those springs had ground-flat tails.
