Re: NASCAR At Texas Today And....................
If NASCAR continues down the "spec" path there will be many more empty seats.

Well, the cold front might have had something to do with it, also. Drop from 83* to 43* last night. 40* tonight.

I think a better business plan for NASCAR is to advertise $20 seats and then make the money with $10 beers and burgers.

"Spec" path--------
Regardless of make/brand----All specs are mandated by NASCAR.
All bodies are the same except for the decals to identify the brand.
All chassis are the same.
All engines are the same. As an example-In ARCA all cars are full spec. In NASCAR Truck, full spec is as good as done. And NASCAR is considering making Infinity full spec. A form of the Chevy LS is the spec engine here. And I will not watch a Chevy race a Ford when both vehicles are Chevy powered.
NASCAR is thinking/not thinking that the driver is the main draw. Not so. With most fans, it is brand first. Then you choose your driver, drivers from your favorite brand.
I have been involved in one way or another with NASCAR since 1958, and there have been some periods of great factory racing in NASCAR.
It is my opinion that those calling the shots now don't have the "feeling" for the sport anymore and are mainly concerned with making money. How are they doing? Bottom line is that they are killing the sport.
