What were those green bar graphs on the bottom right, individual real time AFR meters? Interesting how much they moved around. I'm always very interested in seeing what they're monitoring.

Yeah, it looked more like a peep show. Funny they monitor A/F but not EGT. I did notice they monitor oil pan evacuation and blow-by.

It's the diameter difference between the alternator and crank pulleys that determines its RPM.

Interesting. Based on the SAE correction factor it looks like they use J1349. Is that what most are using now?

Pamotorman...there is not very much difference in Chevy, Ford, Toyota, or Dodge as far as the parts that actually make the horsepower is there ??
Madbill...I see that the water pump is under driven (typical) BUT still....that alternator must be turning faster than normal stuff (detroit). Mark H. :)

You're right; it looks like about 2:1, so close to 20,000 RPM max. Seems like way more than needed and well beyond the safe upper limit for most units. :-k

That's a high end Bosch alternator, dual cooling fans, lots of ventilation in the housing. Bosch recommends the pulley sizing should achieve 20,000 alternator shaft rpm at max engine rpm. They actually last longer turning this rpm because they run cooler.
These alternators are around $2,500 ea.

Warpspeed, is that similar to a pull you guys would do at HMS ? What i am wondering mostly IS, would the pull be that slow and long ??? Also, is that way of pulling an engine typical of an inertia dyno ??? Thanks Mark H.
