Best IC engine books ??
Newby question. I have just found and bought a copy of Blair's IC engine book. This seems to be popular with guys on this site. What would you recommend for my next book purchase? Thanks.

"Internal Combustion Engine Fundamentals" by Heywood is a commonly referenced engineering textbook. It's not necessarily oriented at high-performance engines ... but the physics is all the same.

And instead of forking over $110 to $174 for a hard copy, you can download it here:

I scanned the download, and it shows to be clean.

Technical but entertaining. Of course we are the only people who think technical can be entertaining.

The Rehr-Morrison Engine Assembly Manual is an excellent high-school or trade-school textbook.

I have the reher Morrison book, my brother bought it for me. I consider it a waste of money. Wait for more replies. Look into Ricardo for some history of ic.

Heywood was Taylor's student. Some excellent tech.

It is a bit dated and most of Taylor's work was aimed at low compression, low rpm, aero engines. Plent of tech still holds up.
