LS1 5.7 camshaft advance
I have a LS1 5.7 engine single turbo that I think I need to advance the cam 4 degrees on to help it spool ... if I do this do I have to change something for the cam sensor to get to read correctly? Do they make timing sets to do this?

OK thanks.... I'm a old man on a steep learning curve to catch up after 10 years off
Re: LS1 5.7 camshaft advance
I assume your doing this in the chassis, in which case I think it's easier to use offset bushings in the cam gear rather than remove the oil pump to change the t/c set.

In a couple aspects its easier- no scraping paper gasket residue off the block and no having to compress the thick rubber front pan seal on gen 1's.Scotthatch wrote: ↑Wed May 16, 2018 8:47 pm Ya ..after looking at photos on line I decided that too ..parts are on the way .... looks like job is all labor but not much different then old gen 1 stuff ... good news is I learn fast

Modern sealing technology is one of the best attributes of the ls platform in my opinion. The only major oil leak I ever had was when I broke a rod in the water box and pieces of the block landed on the track. That was a pretty good size coolant leak too!
