Do Brodix heads have proprietary valve guide ODs?

Post by PackardV8 »

We don't do much Brodix and a customer brought in a bare set of "Big Brodie's" he picked up somewhere off eBay. (Which will end up costing him more than if he'd bought loaded heads.) They have approx .545" valve guide OD. Are the guides a Brodix-only diameter? Who's a good source for these guides?

Yes they are special made for them and yes they are a uncommon size but if I remember correctly there is a shelf guide in both bronze and hardened cast that is for the GM crate engine heads and the reverse cooled vette and impala heads.
I got some from PEP or Precision Engine Parts in Nevada. I think the guys down south at PPPC also have a shelf guide as well that can be had for those heads.
Just a thought you can also try SI valves in Cali. they may have some options as well as they do speciality guides as well.
Lee is the guy to chat with about that and their pricing is good =D>

Hope that helps

We got ours off the shelf from CHE down here in Oz, I’d assume in the US they’d be on the shelf too? .545” od isn’t that uncommon, often used to repair damaged .500 guide bores...
