Potential of ported Edelbrock Performer RPM’s 6025’s

Post by thomas butt »

I’d like to try and find how these where ported. I picked up a set of Edlebrock Performer RPMs when I bought a 91 Mustang last month and am curious if the port work done looks good. I didn’t pay much attention to them until I noticed that they milled them below the intake valve and now am curious to find out what type of springs they have and what potential they have on an NA 317” Ford

More pics. The intake port is 1.1”x2.0”. It looks like they concentrated on the bowl.

That looks like more of a sand roll than any actual porting. The valve job and chamber needs attention IMO.

There good for about 550 HP if ported correctly. 270 cfm with about 175-180 cc runner. Biggest gains is sizing Intake bowl to the valve if it has a 2.02 as it is the same size on the 1.90 and 2.02 head ,just the seat cut bigger, Working the Short Turn and doing the chambers is your biggest gains. Any casting flash removed will help. Small cam back cut the valve. I own two sets of them heads. Looks like adding the 2.02 valve and bowl work wont be possible, looks like the seats been milled too far!

Ok. Good to know. I measured the intake and it was 2.02”. I have never had these heads before so don’t know what to look for. Can you tell what type of spring they used? How much do you think they were milled?

I have seen many a darn good looking port polished up at home that flowed less then out of the box!
Get it flow tested or if you build with them you will have no base line to judge from!

I see rust on those springs. They need to be junked!

No doubt.

What's with the big gash, if that's what it is?.. in the fire deck above the intake valve? Weird place for chewed up valve bits to be banging around outside of the head gsskets fire ring and I'd guess severe overheated detonation after the fire ring lost it's battle. Probably also the reason they milled it so much too. Time to break out the welder, imo.
