When putting it into R (cold) when I let off the brake it moves but gives a jerking motion, same with decel on fwy especially downhill
Truck has no codes but last yr or two been way down on power, idles smooth as silk (bought it new)

Hoping this is not the torque converter Ive had at least 4-5 trans and 2 controllers in this thing

It does sit a lot, fluid is clean?? doesnt misfire far as I can tell just has no umph at all and doesnt feel right

With that many miles, it is time for a rebuild. Best to to it now before things get worse. The splines in the sun shell may be going away.

When I get the $ Ill pm you. seems to have stopped...know its tired though these trans suck.
I bought it new and have had at least 4 in there suspect the converters going south.

For the last yr the truck has sat a LOT.....good truck worth putting $ into just eludes me right this sec.

You could try replacing all of the old fluid with a quality synthetic fluid and two bottles of Lucas transmission fix (the thick red stuff). That may give you some more time before having to rebuild or replace. That will cost around $150, but many times will help if the transmission does not have any mechanical damage.

seemed to clear itself out after using it some

now when cold and put in R it makes a loud humming noise then stops.

Tell me its not the front pump?

The pump will make a humming sound. Probably a good sign that is does go away. Eventually your transmission will start slipping or not go in a gear. You can try to keep using it until that happens, but you risk causing more damage.

Jeez. Makes me appreciate my truck that much more. 260k miles and still on the original 4L60E. Thats with 50-75 full 1/4 mile passes and countless full throttle runs getting on the highway, etc...

Last time I did the fluid, I added a bottle of the red Lubeguard and used quality Dex VI and haven't had any major issues.

had issues with this since it was new, trans #5
I usually powerflush it and add a bottle of lucas non slip to it...sticky solenoid issues..always hangs in 2nd the first drive of the day.

I agree to a point, but if the filter is clogged what is it clogged with? Unlike an engine a transmission takes in no outside air or fuel. (it's vented, but shouldn't be a source for contamination) If the filter is clogged it's clogged with worn out, broken internal transmission parts. Quite a few modern automatic transmissions don't have a serviceable filter. If the filter is clogged it's too late.

The filter gets clogged with a thick 'soup' comprised of worn clutch/band friction material. The type of filter material also plays a part. The fine, paper type filter material will clog more easily than a coarser mesh type material.

Lubeguard in the red bottle is made specifically for that. It's also the only trans additive I know of that's used and approved by OEM's. As a matter of fact, GM uses it as a fix for at least 1 TSB. Probably more. According to their website, at least 8 TSB's call for its use. I figure if it works well enough that OEM's use it for TSB repairs, it should work fairly well for what I need. I use it more as a preventative maintenance item.

I read that in 2001 they upgraded the 4L60 to a 4L65 and used a better planitary with some other upgrades, is this true or more internet bull?

I have seen information that shows the 4L65E was introduced in 1996 on some vehicles. The 4L60E was still used after the 4L65E. In 2006 a 4L70E was introduced. All three transmissions were used for the same years in various vehicles. One did not replace the other. Trying to pin down the exact dates transmissions were introduced seems to be difficult to find.

Someone told me the 4L65 was used for the SS trucks too but like you said, hard to pin down.
