Seems the filter is not easily servicable so I will just change out the fluid and hope for the best. Thanks, Charlie
Filters in all GM transmissions (excluding allison) are not meant to be serviced. They are more of a screen than a filter (like a fine oil pump screen)

Have a shop do a fluid flush using a machine to get it all swapped.

Did a fluid change and detailed level check today. Road trip in near future. Thanks, Charlie

Must be a Buick thing. My 2005 Terraza fluid looks like that within 30K miles. (Over 200K on it now).

What I do to freshen it is undo the cooler return line, add some rubber hose and put it into a bucket. Have a helper start the engine and while the fluid is pumping out of the return line, add new fluid through a funnel. I've never had to use more than one of those big containers to get the fluid nice and red. I've never changed the filter. On my ride it would involve dropping the subframe and I'll pass on that lol.

That is a good way to do it. I would have liked to do it that way but afraid of running the pump dry. Your way gets fluid changed in the converter.

POS does not seem to like new fluid. Feel some slipping and new fluid stinks, I realize that the converter was still filled with dirty fluid. Open to advice, road trip this Sunday planned. Thanks, Charlie

if you have metal debris and dark fluid....my guess is the wave plate is broken and it will continue to degenerate till it leaves you sitting

with the right dealer, you may find some help from GM if wave plate is the culprit. Otherwise a cradle drop and take it for rebuild...most shops know these transmissions VERY well LOL
too lazy to make power w/o boost
