I saw TWO of these behemoths at SEMA this year and captured both of them on film. Even got to see/hear the Camaro leave, and I'll tell you, it sounds just as good as it looks!

Since a was a kid I always loved V12 motors!

What does the 8.80" (bore pitch X 2) extra length and offsetting the pins 30 degrees do to the crank stiffness? Certainly moves all of the harmonic orders around.

I'm sure it's more prone to twisting. It doesn't use split pins though. It is an odd firing engine

Thanks a lot Ken, very good information there. So it's odd fire (30° & 90°intervals), alternating cylinder banks in each fire.

I am with you. I have always had a fascination with the V12. However my pocket book does not match the price.

Crank looks just like a 6 cyl in-line but with very wide mains.
As far as firing order is concerned, if you treat each bank separately then each bank is like 1-5-3-6-2-4 in-line 6 cyl firing. Left bank is 3 RHS power strokes behind the right bank but same firing order if you think of that bank only.

AFAIK all V6 currently in production are 60° bank angle with 60° offset pins (Toyota shown below), or (if based on V8) 90° bank with 30° pins. None are odd fire.



In my opinion the V6 is safer with very low journal overlap due to the relatively short overall length = stiffness. Overall length of a "V" design between 1st and last MB is typically (number of cylinders per bank) X bore pitch + 1 rod journal width.
