I D connecting rod. Help please

Post by Heathracing »

 need some help on rods. I need to replace a few rods but do not know tinge brand. They are large journal sbc 6" rods. The cap screws are 7/16 with 1.460 under head length stamped arp. Only markings on the rod are USA and. A 2 letter code.

here is a pick. Crank is an older crower ultralight crank.

Your engine doesn't care about brand names as long as the small/big end sizes and weights are the same and of course the length as well it doesn't really matter unless like me, your OCD won't allow it. lol

Whats the 2 digit code?

That Number 4 main bearing looks really bad.

Speaking of ultra lite cranks, you need to weigh that rod to get a overall weight as if it's a Crower they have tons of different weight Rods to pick from!

Think I'd get it completly apart and mag the crank and rods. Might not have much there to work with.

Very "skinny" rod. It looks nothing like a Crower or any other premium rod.

And I agree, that crank looks in tough shape.

It's a crower ultra light crank an it had cp ultra light pistons. They are older possibly 10 years. I highly doubt they would spend over 2k on a crank and 1000 on pistons and skimp on the rods. I did spin a couple of bearings but the crank took the bearing material. It's getting pulled and checked soon. I was just wondering if anyone knew whose rods they were. I thought they were eagle based on bolt size but I can't find any older info online. Bolts are arp 7/16 1.460 under head length. Thanks again
