Port energy graph. After looking at this graph I almost changed my mind but I will stay with my first bet E7's will win small cam and 289's will win large cam by a small margin. Only from the better exhaust flow and higher compression chamber. Guys that hate low lift flow should really like the 289's they really get crankin (by sound) after. 4" lift. Thanks Charlie

Always interesting spraying high pressure water into a port. Snapped this before yesterdays flow tests and graphs. Input welcome on chamber shape and water flow. Thanks, Charlie

I did not change the bowl shape much on the Cnc head and with a slightly smaller bowl it easily cleaned my exhaust ports clock except at very high lift. I feel a learning moment coming on.

Ever try hose test with a valve secured at a variety of lifts?

Seems the valve job was a bit small and I did a cheap job polishing the ssr. Back to the bench.

Squirt the hose down the port with a valve locked at .500 lift.

I was thinking of that but I didn't do that. Packed for shipping. What do you think would happen?

We spend 99% of our time looking at the ports without a valve in place while doing the port work. It's really easy to lose perspective. That water flow pattern would have looked alot different with a valve in place. It would have been a "flatter " pattern.

And the pattern will change big time as the location/angle of attack of the water hose.
We are learning what here?!?

I am not troubled with dead on valve seat concentricity any more at room temps as things shift around a good bit. ( and this is a good reason for guide clearance a tad over what you would want !) once a head is up at full throttle running temp with one side of the Intake valve seat at near Exh temps and the other side only 200 degrees above coolant temp, and on Aluminum heads with interlocking seats it can be far worse!

Sorry, I did not mean to change subjects on you Charlie!
