Dammit Charlie, see what you made me do - I wasn't actually 'almost finished' the valve job, I was finished with 1 head.
So I left it & cranked up the grinder on the head I finished the valve job on.
Sorted out the intake short turn, opened the bowl a tad, slimmed the guide boss a little, straightened out the common wall a bit & opened up the pinch to 1.85^"
On the exhaust I laid back the turn more, slimmed the guide boss & tidied up the bowl.
Left the chamber alone & came in at 1/2hr for the 1 cylinder, taking in to account the extra time it takes to do just 1 cylinder I'll be on budget for porting.

I'll do before & after flows tomorrow if I get a chance - it's 10pm here now & I wanna go home.

Those heads flow 210 stock at like .700" lift, with a tad over .500" lift , and let's say a average net lift of .250" I am gonna say a average 125 cfm@28" and no more than 425 hp !

Wow, never seems to amaze me on how bad some people can get screwed and shorted on an engine. Sounds like you have got a thorough "Real Rebuild" in progress and I know your work will turn out a great piece. When you first asked the question in your first post I was thinking about what power it would not make. I was thinking what a disaster it would have been on a dyno with its quick demise and how smart you were to open it up and check the internals. Glad you did not have to discover this "sh*t build" on your dyno with a boom! :!:

"it ran good when it was pulled" "it just had a fresh rebuild" "It only needs a new head gasket"

294/300 adv dur
238/244 @ .050"
106 lobe centres
.502/.516" lift

They even have stock across the other side of town.

I think we have a winner, nice to see a shelf cam with close lobe centres!

For an OTS cam that Crane doesn't look too bad. Thankfully, it's not on the Comp de facto 110 LSA. That would kill it for sure.

I like the junk 350 I feel the cam will work really well .
I have ran the (OLD) cast 345NP at .0045" piston to wall and they lived 75,000 miles and many 7600rpm blast and 2 Neutral blasts to 8500 Not my doing!
Rods were not resized and still had factory bolts.

That one is in my daily driver 57 chevy now with smaller cam and different heads.
With 186 castings that flowed 224 cfm intake and 195 cfm exhaust with 1.94-1.50 valves 158cc runners it would run mid 11's with a Herbert 235-245 @ .050 on a 108 LSA with .500" lift both sides and Lashed at .026" Of course head chambers were 54cc with milling and unshrouding.
370 gear in a 9" with a spool. 78 nova lightened.

Those loose 350's will really scoot.
There is some power and RPM in those early chambers, I hook the area across from the intake valve near the spark plug.
You guys probably know that.

I bet that 350 will really please the old man.
I built 1 tight 350 in my life .0015" piston to wall.Never again. it was down over 1000 rpm on the shift vs the same stuff in a worn out block.

I agree with Jeff above.
Side note on rings-

I have a "backup" (read cheap) 355 engine we use for CT-gets used pretty well
It has 5/32 rings and, last time I freshened it I used the Mahle carbon steel moly face rings and was very happy .

is that crane SAE- .006 at the valve or .004 at the cam- I forget
just a note to self that that adv duration is larger than what an exact same comp would be
lash?

An excellent cam from crane for old school junk if you can get them to build you one is the old .518-.536" . 244 -252 at .050" on 106LSA 280-288 advertised
# 110921
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/crn-110921

But for the old ported iron heads with what i consider a weak intake side I like to have it ground on a single pattern deal.
Use the exhaust lobe for the intake and exhaust (single pattern) keep it on a 106LSA .I ran this cam with ported 305 601 casting heads and 1.6 rockers.
another mid 11 ride with 411 gears at 3000 lbs and will pull 11.5" vacuum at 1000 rpm.
That was in another junk 350 with cast dished with valve reliefs. Was a friends truck.

Installed 102 or 104 intake centerline.

I noticed the last time I got rings about a year ago the E251K rings ... they looked Horrid! Was not the same ring as 15 years ago.
I stay under my rock too much and things change on me without notice :(

I haven't used/sold an E251k in years, what did you see that disturbed you? Since we are talking junk 350's ;)

In reality they didn't get screwed on the engine, paid $2k for it including carb, intake & dissy.
Realising that in Australia you'll pay $800-$1k for a core 350 engine & looking at the parts they got it wasn't a bad deal.
It wasn't what it was supposed to be, but in the end they'll have a solid 350+HP engine for cheaps, cheaper than a dressed 350 crate that'd make maybe 270hp on a good day.

But yeah, if they'd run it it woulda got messy!
