My Buddy Doc.

Post by pdq67 »

I found out this afternoon that Doc is in I/C at the UMC Medical Center here in Columbia, MO.

He's 73 or so, so not to be not expected.

Bad heart, kidneys going down, over weight, draining fluid out of him.

I am a wreck right now because Doc and I go back to early 1979.

He is an Eye Doctor is why I call him Doc. He does my eyeglasses..

When we both were divorced back then, we lived together like a couple of, "Bachelor Brothers"... From Sept, '79 until Feb, '83.

Had more fun than you could shake a stick at!!

I ended up having to transfer up to South Bend for AP Green, so we separated and it wasn't a year or so later, we both got remarried.

Please offer up some prayers for Doc.

Thank you.

Thanks everybody that at least looked in here!

But no comments though??

I am 69.5 years old or so, so it's like me checking in on my older Brother..

I'm sorry about your friends condition, at this age, it's all those little things that add up..
It sure is nice you guys had a good time together.

I recently turned 65 and had to choose a new primary care physician for my Medicare program.

After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing "fairly well" for my age.

A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, "Do you think I will live to be 80?"

He asked: Do you smoke tobacco or drink alcoholic beverages?"

"Oh no," I replied. "and I don't do drugs, either."

"Do you have many friends and entertain frequently?"

"I said, "No, I usually just stay home and keep to myself".

"Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?"

I said, "No, my other doctor said that all the red meat is unhealthy!"

"Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?"

"No, I sure don't," I said.

"Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?"

"No," I said. "I don't do any of those things."

He looked at me and said, "Then why the hell would you want to live till' you're eighty?

Great joke!!

Now Doc just called about 30 minutes ago from the Med Center so I think he is going to be OK!

I was half a sleep and thought I was dreaming so got my wife to pull up the call.

I can't move fast enough to answer our phone because my left hip/leg hurt's so bad is all.

I went to my Dr's appointment today to see about getting me fixed up.

And thanks guys for any prayers offered up for my way long time Buddy, Doc!

I lose him and I will be SOL because I won't have any Buddies left! I have already lost Harry, (my down south of B'Ham Buddy), and Bob, (my old RR/CO Buddy!!
