I am currently changing my brakes from a boosted brake system to a Manuel system on my 1979 malibu and i have heard that the low drag front calipers brakes dont work to well. I am also going to install wilwood 4 piston calipers on the rear.
Do i need to change the front calipers?
Will the manuel M/C that has a small bore (7/8 I think) be efficient?
This is a high H/P car and the brakes need to stop efficiently.
The main question is the low drag calipers.

Re: g-body-Low Drag front brake calipers HELP!
The 7/8" m-cyl will work well with around a 6.8:1 pedal ratio.
What piston diameter front calipers are you using?

Try adding and removing alignment shims to the top bolt on the caliper bracket at the spindle and then spin the rotor.. If you have a hat rotor you will need to put a couple lugs on to secure it.. I just found out the other day this can be adjusted to help the rotors spin freely..
I have after market Scarebird disc brake brackets, not sure if that makes a difference or not but after shimming the top bolt behind the bracket, my rotors spin freely and my car handles and coasts like a different car..

All GM G body and F body cars, from disc brakes:
If the front brake calipers are not releasing, too much drag, check and change the hyd flex hose. Big difference. They degrade inside over time and do not allow the hyd pressure to release when you are off the brake pedl. Use high quality hyd flex hoses.
