Pump gas 496 hyd roller build and dyno test
After reading this thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37687 I thought I would share my 496 build. If theres any interest I would post pictures of the build. My goal is 700 HP 29.92 60 degrees dry air (STP), although the dyno test has not taken place yet. My build: 289 2 bolt block, 9.776 deck height, line honed, bushed lifter bores, .842, Mahle 15 cc piston, 6.385 Scat I beam rods unfinished, 2.325/.0008, Scat 4340 indexed, 4.249 stroke, M55 oil pump blueprinted, Moroso 20401 pan heavily modified, 238 @ 0.50 hyd roller, 109/105 .578 lift, billet core, Morel lifter, 3/8 .083 wall pushrod, Scorpion 1.7 rockers, Modified AFR 265 heads, 170/400 spring pressure, Modified performer RPM air gap, 1000 AED 4150 carb, 1 inch open carb spacer. 2 inch headers, 3 inch mufflers, MSD 85551 dist, MSD 7AL2, 91 octane Shell gas.
Racing a NA NHRA stocker should be mandatory before any posting.

Post up some pics! Reading that old thread Cam King said it would take a cam of 260@.050 to make that kind of power and that's a long way from 238@.050! Isky cam in this one?

Mark, did you bush the lifter bores to correct geometry issues or was it to get the proper clearance? Maybe both..

The "Cam King" very well could be right.
After all that Isky 238 lobe is such an aggresive valve opener
I still would like to see the Cam King and Joe taking their daily walks together though.

cant be done with a 238 cam
just like runnin 10s with a 224 cam
never happen

have you tried more wall thickness on the P-rods? or no diff because of the mild lobes?
and I'd love to see 3 1/2" collector extentions compared to the 3" muffs... or would that make a diff with higher acceleration rates?

Dan and Raf I will make sure you guys get your pictures. Compression came in at 10.5. The first thing were going to get into is how the SF 901 dyno is calibrated and tested for calibration. It will be good information.

Just to be sure you need to check the oil pump part number. The m55 is a std volume sbc pump. Hopefully a mispost, but be sure you don't install it if it is the pump you have selected. Because you will have trouble with the pump shaft being the incorrect length, the pickup tube will be restrictive being 5/8" instead of oe bbc size of 3/4" and the sbc pump won't supply enough oil without cavitating the oil.

that gives me an idea on what to do, I thought the sump may be closed off more then that. guess its a balance between oil return to sump.
hope it will help a car that 60fts at a snails pase
next time the 420 comes out I will be welding on the pan "some more".

Mark, first of all thank you for taking the time to share your expertise. I learn a lot by reading your posts. I am wondering if your modified 40203 pan will use an additional windage tray or crank scraper or simply the run with the mods shown. Also was it a typo or are you really running a small block oil pump?
