OP, see all this with a optimistic eye, this situation could be worst, you could have lost one year waiting AND get a fast-bolted-up crappy short block;

Now you're with the money in hand and another chance to start over, call some reputable builder like Lewis Racing and do the motor better, stronger and right!

(hopefully in less than a year) LOL!

Wow, Clayton racing, what an asshat! How could you repeatedly lie to someone like that? I mean just tell the person "look I'm three months behind just so you know" and leave it at that? I really wonder how many times he did build "your" motor and delivered it to someone else or maybe he was just flat lying the entire time. Nice, I just can't imagine doing that.

It's guys like him that make internet sales look bad, and the reason I have rarely done business over the 'net. Fortunately the times I have it's been with guys like Mike Lewis and Mike Jones (and they have been fantastic by the way). There is no reason to string someone along for A YEAR for a machained unassembled short block. I mean thats something that could have been done in a day I would think?

Oh well you will be much better in the end I think, good luck with it!

Just an observation

After five pages of a dog pile, The engine builder got a black eye and the OP got his money back......What now stands to be gained? Isn't it time to let it go?

AF2, while that may be true sometimes, pretty clearly in this case Clayton racing jacked the OP around, period. He tried and tried just to get his motor then the Clayton gets his bluff called (in my opinion) and sends the check back. Also this is NOT the only case of this from Clayton you will find with a search on Google.

I'm sure if there was anything posted by the OP here that was not true Clayton would have gotten on here and pointed out otherwise. Even in his response he denied none of it...
Sooooo, I agree it's time to move on but at the same time I think stuff like this should be made very public if true, Clayton Racing has made money off the internet and buyers, let the fact they jerked someone around for a year clearly lying to them be known in the same fashion. Live by the sword, die by the sword....

Just my opinion of course. I'm glad he had the decency to refund the money, but the circumstances he eventually did it where total BS.

I just get pissed off when azzholes do this kind of crap,and the person that thinks that he can trust that person gets screwed over for no god!@#ned reason,and he almost is at the mercy of the person doing the screwing over. I was screwed over in a similiar way for OVER 9,000 DOLLARS!! That's why it pisses me off.I even posted this in a different website to spread this incident!!!

There is something to be said for buying local. What I don't get is why people think buying over the net is better. Yeah "some times" it's cheaper, But at what expense? Do your buying locally, support local businesses, keep local people employed. If something ever does go wrong you can walk in the front door and talk face to face with the person you bought from. The prices may be a little higher because the local guy actually has a shop and isn't selling from the spare room in his house, So what? What you get back in personal service is worth that and more. To an internet seller you really are just a number on a computer screen.

Case in point, My workshop specializes in automotive LPG/Propane conversions and repairs. You can walk in my front door and walk out with good solid advice and what ever part you needed. There are a bunch of people on ebay selling OMVL R90E regulators for AU$185 plus $15 post. These regulators cost me $165 plus fright of $13 to make any money on them at all I HAVE to sell them for more then you can get them on Ebay.
One of the Ebay sellers doesn't even sell any other automotive parts, his shop is full of bedroom lights and tables ect.
Firstly what right to these people have in the the first place to be buying these things at a better price then people like myself. Secondly what after sales service or advice can these person offer.

My only way around it right now is to refuse to fit customer supplied parts. I have called all the suppliers I can find trying to get better prices on parts, I can't find anyone selling them for less the $165 unless I buy 4 at a time. But then I have to carry hundreds of dollars of parts that will take months to sell.
