Dave you have many compantent builders in your part of the state you have no reason to go east unless you pissed off the ones you had!!!
I just get pissed off when azzholes do this kind of crap, and the person that thinks that he can trust that person gets screwed over for no god!@#ned reason, and he almost is at the mercy of the person doing the screwing over. I was screwed over in a similiar way for OVER 9,000 DOLLARS!! That's why it pisses me off.I even posted this in a different website to spread this incident!!!
There is something to be said for buying local. What I don't get is why people think buying over the net is better. Yeah "some times" it's cheaper, But at what expense? Do your buying locally, support local businesses, keep local people employed. If something ever does go wrong you can walk in the front door and talk face to face with the person you bought from. The prices may be a little higher because the local guy actually has a shop and isn't selling from the spare room in his house, So what? What you get back in personal service is worth that and more. To an internet seller you really are just a number on a computer screen.
Case in point, My workshop specializes in automotive LPG/Propane conversions and repairs. You can walk in my front door and walk out with good solid advice and what ever part you needed. There are a bunch of people on ebay selling OMVL R90E regulators for AU$185 plus $15 post. These regulators cost me $165 plus fright of $13 to make any money on them at all I HAVE to sell them for more then you can get them on Ebay.
One of the Ebay sellers doesn't even sell any other automotive parts, his shop is full of bedroom lights and tables ect.
Firstly what right to these people have in the the first place to be buying these things at a better price then people like myself. Secondly what after sales service or advice can these person offer.
My only way around it right now is to refuse to fit customer supplied parts. I have called all the suppliers I can find trying to get better prices on parts, I can't find anyone selling them for less the $165 unless I buy 4 at a time. But then I have to carry hundreds of dollars of parts that will take months to sell.
