gotta ask as I have seen this many times before, if you use one of the long fuel filters did it by chance get put in backwards?

I just went through a similar issue last week. New 406 ran good on the dyno. In the car it wouldn't go over 6,000 and missed. It's a new car with all new electronics so I thought maybe valve springs. Removed Comp Cams springs and installed new PAC springs. I later checked the Comp springs and they were right on spec. Miss was still there. Changed the dist and all is well. Unfortunatly just because something is new doesn't always mean it's good.

Last week was a tough week ,the truck broke down also. With more time this week I'M going to rewire the car.It has the headers that come over the top behind the dist.Ithink the coil and switches are to close.
The dist is a HEI that is set up to work with a remote coil and 6AL box.I'm installing a new msd dist.
Over the winter we increased the C/R from 10.2 to 11.8.I stayed with the same heat range of plugs, autolite AR94,switching to AR92

I had a crack plug boot that only leak to ground when the engine was hot. Wires were pretty new so I overlooked them.
But you change the wires.
Why not borrow a carb and see if the problem changes ? I'm guessing ignition but I guessed wrong in the past

Do you have the headers wrapped?or a heat shield between them and the ignition parts?

You run 15 laps before it starts missing? you raised compression from last year? whats the battery voltage when it starts to miss. As asked before do you have an alternator, if so whats it putting out?

Found that if you shake the wires where they go in to the spark box the car would die.New box ,dist ,colder plugs car ran great.
Friday we raced at a track we don't race at a lot.Won then got DQ because tubular upper a-arms are legal but they have to be in the stock mounts. My mounts are the $6 plates like a modified uses.
Saturday ,lead 15 laps got in lap traffic and the 2nd place car took both of us out.Got to love dirt track racing

Well, you could always take up drag racing instead.

Glad to hear you found the miss problem.
