I have a 2006 Nissan Altima with the 3.5 V-6 that appears to have no oil pressure...I haven't hooked my mechanical gauge up yet,,but I was wondering if anyone has seen this problem on one of these before...there's no bearing noise yet,, but the lifters are ticking so at this time I have to assume the oil light is correct...I'm thinking maybe crud in the oil pump pick-up screen.....Any other suggestions????....Dan.

Hey Dan had this problem with my 03 pathfinder, has it been overheated at any stage? What i done was drain oil and flush pan with gas, i wasn't to keen on putting gas through the engine so poured through the dipstick tube straight into the pan.It looks like the oil has been burnt and comes out in flakes not thick gunk. I've done this for about 3-4 oil changes and is slowly getting better, i'm up to 3k between intervals now.

Those engine just incenerate oil and the build up in the pan and PU screen is incredible.
I would drop the pan and confirm it is not totally pluged as most are. The other thing is the oil pump takes a beating from lack of oil flow as well and they wear badly.
My suggestion is drop the pan and clean it and the PU screen as well as replace the pump.
I know thats a bunch of work but the flush routine is just a waste of time as the fine particulate still circulates and plugs the tiny bleed holes in the lash adjusters.
Depending on how bad the pan looks the oil passages in the block most times are just as bad. That said use something like Rislone in the oil and fluch the system that way before installing new lash adjusters to shut up the valve train

You may have the VQ35 engine in your Nissan.
We have done several in the last 5 years .
I have never saw the sludge factor.
The oil pumps have powdered metal/sintured iron gears which are prone to breaking.
As ProPower said Pull the pan and check for sludge and chect the oil pump.
