You'll need to go with Morel lifters with that cam. It's not easy on the valvetrain.

Which cam? The Thumper ones or the single pattern 237 he suggested?

Like most streeters you're probabily not making full use of what you got now.
Most likely not near enough gear ratio and a tame converter.
As 90% of the gain of a cam change will show up at the top end of the power band.
The gear ratio, converter and vehicle weight etc become all the more critical to seeing a actual performance gain.
Are you willing to do the valve train up grade nessessary to run a more aggressive
cam with more lift?.
More specific vehicle info.
Do you want "more power" so you can tell your self and friends you have more power?
Or do you want to run faster and quicker down the 1/4 mile?

AFR 195 heads/stealth ram EFI intake, 383, 11 to 1.... etc. Most 230 deg cams in a 383 will peak 6000-6200 ish rpms and are a good match for a street strip car. You could go a tad bigger like said. I ran 3600 stall and had a blast with 3.42 gears behind a 700r4 tranny. You'll need to go with Morel lifters with that cam. It's not easy on the valvetrain.
