BBF morel Hyd. Roller lifters

Postby CREngines » Mon Mar 26, 2012 8:16 am

I have a set of brand new set of Hyd. roller lifters here for a big block 385 series ford. They are supposed to be morels, and the better lifter that is improved and and capable of 6500ish with out floating or collapse. i have a suspicion they may not be boxed correctly they look an awful lot like the cheaper lifters out there. they have a full body, 700 wheel, a regular snapring and about .250 of travel. is there anyway to tell if i have the better lifter? i need these to hold against 440 open and turn 6500 rpm without collapsing or floating. can somebody help me out?

Here is a link to Morel's website but, you'll likely have to contact one of the dealers, have them have John contact you, he does not list a phone number. He has however been very helpful to me in the past when he's called me. Hope this helps.

They are the basic hydraulic roller lifter that morel makes for a 385 series ford. They are good for about 6k and 390 open. They are working on an improved version based on the Chevy lifter that has done really well but its not available for another month roughly. Lunati lists it in their new catalog but it is not available yet. Because this motor has to beout the door before then I'm going ahead with the build and we are going to try them.

Its a 520 inch Na low rpm motor that is used in a near full size monster truck for mudbog competitions. Its built conservatively to maximize longevity. 241/249 .639 lift cam, 11.5 cr, ford racing Scj heads and a weiand stealth. Hoping to dyno it this week. This motor gets put in a mudpit and held wide open for minutes at a time like a marine motor every weekend.
