That big block sure sounded good and definitely accelerated fast as it sure didn't take long to get through the designated rpm band! I look forward to see who makes the "Elite/Quick Eight" tomorrow.

There is also going to be a separate big block shootout for 2.130 throttle bore carbs that some of the contestants have entered in as well that I believe will be ran tomorrow. That should be interesting as well. :)

I believe both of these carbs were dominators.

Wow, congratulations Mark way to go!!! Also, congratulations to AED and all of the rest of those who competed in this contest!
Yes, both were Dominators, they were the only Dominators in the small block class.

That’s awesome Mark; my understanding is AED has really advanced their Small Block Dominator project, so you did a phenomenal job.

I really appreciate the kind words. Thats my trophy !

Ill betcha more shops will sign up next year with more sponsors getting on board. Im really looking foward to see testing on that monster Schmidt motor. Working with that very new and unusual intake manifold and oxygenated fuel should really throw a curve ball at all of them. Havent a clue as to who will capture the OOTB class and overall performance winner.

Take my word for it, David Vizard is in hog heaven and is having a blast being part of this ! Steve Zicht

Yes Steve, I talked to DV a little while ago, he is having fun and was very impressed with the engines.
I am looking forward to a long play by play when he gets back.

The following is the list of "Elite/Quick Eight" for the big block shootout:

APD
AED
Gary Williams
QFT
Davinci
CFM
KB
Mark Whitener

The final shootout between the top 8 is being ran now. I would guess it should be completed by 6:00 PM Eastern Time.

So AED, Davinci, QFT, and Mark Whitener made the elite 8 in both classes - extremely impressive! Did AED win the OOTB prize again?

There were issues with the readings everyone gets to run for shootout.

Good deal, as I would say that would be the fair thing to do then. May take a while longer then I take it, so any idea when it will finish? Just got an update, and it looks like they will go this evening until the remainder have completed their runs. There should be 2 or 3 more to go then.

The following are the results of the Big Block Shootout:

Winner: AED

Runner Up: Braswell

The winner of the out of the box competition was: AED

The winner of the 2.130 class shootout was APD.

The Elite Eight for the Big Block Shootout ended up being the following after some entrants got to re-run due to an issue with some of the original readings:

AED
Braswell
APD
CFM
KB
Davinci
Holley
POW

Congratulations to all who were involved as I think everyone came away winners from this event.

Maybe it's been mentioned, but will, where and what data is to be available re results? I'd love to see power/accel times & AFRs at a minimum...

I too would like to see some data from both shoot-outs. Thanks Mark for posting yours.

I hope that a 4412 2-bbl shoot-out happens next year since we ran a big HP engine this year.
