Just saying.... I want to see if this fails. I probably have as much or more experience in plastics and tooling as you do. I have lived in all the automotive plants and plastic manufacturing plants all over the world since 1970.
I think it's good AFR is pursuing this and I don't even run their heads.

When I started seeing plastic OEM parts coming out 10 years ago, I thought there would be tons of problems, especially with age. But they seem to be holding up pretty good. A nitrous backfire might be an issue, but I don't think there's going to be any other issues based on what I'm seeing with OEM stuff.

Did you google "plastic manifold exploded"? Looks like a lot of problems that given a choice, I would not choose to have.

I wish I had a dollar for every time a racing engine had a backfire.

OK then, here is a challenge; can you explain what problems caused the OEMs use lost core molding?
And then explain why you think AFR won't have the same problems.

You are a pistol... I am not hear to talk about how smart I am. I just said I will be interested in how it goes a year from now. AFR must have really pissed you off at some time or proven you wrong. Just wanted you to know there is more than one plastic guy on this forum :D

On certain topics you will find that once in a while their may be an individual(s) that post certain things that, well, ........
the best thing for EVERYONE to do is NEVER respond to those!!!!
If everyone ignores them, they'll go away.

Hmmmm, I thought you just finished telling me how much you know, and now you can't answer a simple question?

Don't project the way you form opinions on me.

I base my opinions on the known facts about problems with plastic manifolds.
I have supported my arguments with facts.

It doesn't matter who makes it, a plastic manifold creates new problems on even mild passenger cars.
Multi-piece manifolds are of course worse.
On racing engines that run with far more problems, no chokes, requent distributor removal etc. the occurance of backfires is even higher.

It probably won't alter anyone's views on the subject, but FWIW, typical OEM EFI manifolds have 3-5 times the internal volume of an SBC carb manifold, with a concomitant increase in the energy release resulting from its ignition...

I recently purchased the TXR for a 406 build, so far I am pleased with performance of the manifold. I haven't been able to tune much, didn't get out during summer months and lots of rain here over the recent weekends!. Considering future upgrades I am curious, do you currently have any dominator spiders?? If not, plans to? Thanks again for your help this past spring, you helped spec out cam, 235's,intake for pump gas build...now morphing into more drag than street. btw...the fit was perfect and port alignment was a very nice surprise and quite easy to install.

Wow....this thread has gotten all sorts of attention in the last 24 hours!

Anyway, I'm glad you have had some good results with the manifold. It really is an extremely trick piece and I encourage any of you guys lucky enough to attend the trade shows to stop by our booth and check one out personally. Its extremely well made with alot of attention to detail and a very functional design.

Regarding the Dominator spider your in luck but are going to have to be patient.....the prototype is just about complete and once we are finished with all our testing and due diligence we will get that spider in the works ASAP. Best guess its available in the spring of 2012. I should have a better idea of the time frame (and effectiveness of the design) in February or so.

Thanks,
Tony

That would be cool to have a "base" and be able to bolt on 2 or 3 different intake manifold designs to it without removing the distributor or disturbing the water.
