Whats up with SVRE ?

Postby Outlaw Puller » Sun Jul 24, 2011 8:36 am

Anybody have knowledge of what's going on at SVRE ( Steve Vance Racing Engines ) ? Are they in business yet ? The only way to contact them seems to be a email address that they don't seem to answer. Have tried a 704 area code number and you can't even leave a message. I'm new to this site and may have missed earlier posts if there have been any about SVRE. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

What is it they say-" Patients is a virtue" or "All comes to those who wait". Well just how long does a customer have to wait . The whole transaction started off good , we'd purchased a set of Profilers from SVRE in April of 09 . Said we'd have them in 3 to 4 weeks. Great , we'll have them in plenty of time to get the motor together before the season starts. We didn't get them until September. So we finally get the motor together ( other issues and delays ) and on the dyno this March 2011. After 2 dyno pulls the #2 cylinder's crack repair ( a previous repair we were unaware of when we purchased the heads but found out after we received them ) lets go and we're down 70% besides loosing the threads in the spark plug hole.
We contacted Steve for the repair , would he stand behind his products ? He said yes he'd do the repair. Great ! Sent him the head in Texas the last of April , his exact words " I'll get right on it " and in his email on June 10th " I'll finish the repair this weekend " . Well here we are July 25 and we have no head. I've sent a number of emails and tried his Phone # but no response in over a month from him. I've even asked him to return the head even if he's done nothing to it , No response. I've tried to give him the beneifit of the doubt , with other projects he may have in the works and his teaching but what does a person have to do to get results or even a response . I have no problem with Steve's head programs and workmanship , we had good results even on the 7 cylinders. The problem is his constant failure to keep his promises or his word on getting something done and his failure to at least keep his customer(s) apprised on his progress.
I realize this post will probably be like shooting myself in the foot and I will probably never see the head again but I've pretty much convinced myself that it was already pretty much a given. We've already made contacts with a couple other head porting guys and no doubt will end up purchasing another head that has matching flow #'s from one of them. Would like to know if anyone else has had this problem with SVRE or other engine builders ? Talked to a few other people and it kind of looks like a trend in the industry. Sorry this post was so long but I just needed to vent. Maybe Steve will read this and we'll get a reaction out of him . Good or bad it will be something. We'll keep you apprised if we eventually get the head back. But if you intend on purchasing an item from SVRE , well good luck.

Unfortunately I've heard of similiar experiences with S V R E, from a friend of mine and truck puller in Georgia. He was waiting on Steve to do a new set of CNC ported heads for him. No response to e-mails, would not return phone calls, and job was prepaid. He waited from January 2010 until April 2011 before he got them. Then the chambers were way too big.
