If someone has contacts to Dambest, APD, Nickerson, and Book it would be a few more.

Update,

Just Contacted C & S Carburetion in Mo. and spoke to one of them and gave them a heads up on the shoot out. They seemed interested and was instructed to check out the Speed Talk thread and possibly contribute anything. I informed them that if they have some serious hardware that they want to show off, this is the oppertunity to do it. Run What Ya Brung Shoot Out ! They know Rick Cole at BLP and may contact him via e mail . Like to see C & S show up to the gun fight as to their carb work is indeed legendary and many racers use them. SZ

This contest sounds awesome! I hope the webcast gets hooked up or at least someone who can video tape it and put it on youtube.

Update;

The guy up in New York that owns DAMBEST Carburetion has been contacted and has declined the invitation. I tried to contact the guy myself and the phone never answered. Another individual in this thread managed to get ahold of this man and after the Carb Shoot Out was explained, the owner implied that he was not interested. Im only putting this message out so everybody will officially know that DamBest Carburetion was contacted. I was not informed as to why the invitation was declined but this ' guru ' is off the ' contact ' list.

Cant win them all guys ! SZ

I emailed Patrick James and he is also declining to participate.

Have to applaud the vendors that are taking part in this, They are putting there reps on the line and I really think there is going to be some tough competition. You really have to give all these guys credit.

Cant wait to see this go down.

I'm disappointed, I really expected Patrick would want to show everyone how well the SV1 performs. Even if not, enter a conventional carb. :(

Lets keep one important thing in mind. All the shoot out participants are winners to start with. OK ? There will be no loosers ! This is going to be a fun get together by a very rare and select group of special people that eat, sleep, breath and think of building the perfect carburetor. This is a contest to simply gauge where the development is now and where its going. This stuff is what keeps our racing sports alive. If there are a few carb specialists that choose not to participate, their decision should be respected without prejudice and we should move on and lets have some fun.

Would there be a run off between the top 3 to decide the overall winner ?
---------
Picking numbers at random:
if the competition was among 12 entries,
and they each had 30 minutes, including install and removal of their carb,
that is 6 total hours of test time.

Is 30 minutes reasonable ?
More ?
Less ?
Just because you never studied the Laws of Physics,
doesn't mean they won't try to kick your ass.

Not all engine builders enter Engine Masters. Some like that sort of thing, some don't.
