slicks

Postby fishman » Sun Aug 08, 2010 1:09 pm

Is it common practice to balance the rear slicks on a race car. The reason i am asking is i live 2 hours away from a place that would balance them, but i can get them mounted without being balanced in my town i live....i usually have enough time i take them in to the city but have no time right now to do that.........................thanks in advance

Bubble balance is what I use all the time, even on my other stuff. I bought a good used one for a reasonable price from a Matco or SnapOn dealer as they got it for a trade in.

You can either use the directly opposite heavy side or a bit to each side of light area, like a 'y' as like the one I used back in 1960. I bought boxes of thick rim weights and reuse old ones too. Buy a weight remover/installer plier/hammer tool.
