Currently have a 496 a 2 bolt block w/ 5cc pistons & milled 049 heads. Looking to upgrade it w/ dart Pro 1 230 119cc heads that I have for it. Scat 4340 crank & H beam rods w/ bottom end studded w/ ARP fastners.
Should I have 4 bolt caps installed while its down? Also looking to up the compression in the range of 13 to 14-1 & a cam change from a Reed solid roller 292/302 dur. & 624/634 lift @110 center.
Motor in a 3400 lbs. chevelle
Thanks for your suggestions!!! |

My builder told me he has a 496 in a seven second dragster with two bolt mains. You just have to use good studs. But, if you have any doubt and the motor is gonna be apart anyway, its a judgment call. Good luck. _________________ 73 vette 496, tunnel ram pro systems 950's and way too much cam! |

| Does the weight of the door car figure into using a 2 bolt over a rail car?? |

There might be something to a 2 bolt living better in a dragster, vs a heavier door car. consider a marine application, that have big loads put on them vs a car. Sorta the same thing
